How to create OLD FILM Effect – Premiere Pro CC

Here is a long, in depth tutorial on how to create an old film effect like the 1960’s and 1970’s. We look at the various techniques, effects, and more.

Step 1 – Use RGB curves – to make the whites brighter and the shadows darker – enhances the contrast.

Step 2 – Add Tint – Click on effects – type in “tint”.

Step 3 – add in a slight blue tint – use Fast Color corrector – add in a little blue.

Step 4 – Add in noise effect – season to taste.

Step 5 – Crop the video – this changes the aspect ratio from 16:9 – 4:3.

Step 6 – Add Roughen Edges – adjust to taste

Step 7 – add in offset effect – this demonstrates how projectors used to flip through the film.

Step 8 – Add in directional blur. This blurs the movement on the video as it would show in old style films.
